on vitamins

For a while I took children's chewable vitamins, because, provided they are the "complete" kind, they provide nutritional value close to that of the run of the mill, smelly horse pill adult multivitamin. And they're so much more fun to eat! It actually increased my daily multivitamin compliance!

Flinstones are good, as are the Disney/Pooh bear ones. Some generics are okay.

But these generics from Harris Teater are so bad that I'd practically call them "child abuse." Spare yourself and your children this gustatory experience.

Why are they even still sitting in my cabinet?!

(Oh, right. Because I tend to do that. Leave stuff around. Right.)

Note all those antacids in the background of the first pic? Back in the late college/early grad school days I ate pretty crappy. So, uh, yeah, tthat's old and I think those might need to go too.

June 25, 2006, morning

When I set this up I got so excited that the next day I decided, well! since I won't have time to chronicle my breakfasts during the week, why not take pictures of this breakfast-in-the-life-of moment.

So, here are the results!

I'm usually a skim gal, but this week I was experimenting into the world of this kinda milk. With the long name. i remember I was also eating Dannon Activia that week and wondering if I might be overdoing it with the active bacteria cultures.

The formual goes: oatmeal + fruit in season = the kind of oatmeal i eat. Made with water in the microwave, adding a bit of milk in the end. I usually alternate between this brand and another 'heartier' kind, but following a discussion on the benefits of steel-cut oatmeal, and the ease of making it in a rice cooker, I may be making a switch. But for now, this is representative of my oatmeal consumption.

Oh yeah, and the cinammon. Also, sometimes walnuts. Mmm!

And here was the blend of the week. Yes, after extolling the virtues of Bongo Java Roasting Co., my tounge had a change of... bud? and now favors Portland Brew's roasts. Now (at time of typing) I've got the Tanzanian Peaberry and it's yummers. Nevermind the fact that peaberry beans are soooo cuuuuute! Tiny, chubby beans! Hee!
